Retouch Photo

Now, time to retouch the objects.
I've already cropped the other dancer images and arranged them

To retouch image, each person has different style. Some people often to use Brightness and Contrast to adjust the lighting, some people use Level, and maybe the others use Curve or etc. It depends what is feel that we want to put into that image.

In this case, I'm gonna put a kind of elegance feel to the dancer images.

First, duplicate all the dancer-cropped layer.

then, change front layer style to "Hard Light"

Now the contrast of the image is more strong than before, it gives attraction to people at the first glance.

Do the same step to the others.

Then, I'm gonna put a 'depth' between the object.

Blur the dancer at the back. Give the more blur for the very back dancer.

Adjust the Level, Curve, Color Balance, or etc. (Image > Adjustment)

Then, adjust the Vibrance (Image > Adjustment) to reduce the color strength.

Well, this is the way that I always use to retouch images that separately before.
Hope, it's help you to know the Photoshop tools more. Bye for now.

Working With Layer (Basic)

Layer, this is the very basic one. But, the really important thing that we should know when we are using Adobe Photoshop.

We allowed to use many layers in one work, and of course it makes us easier to blend and combine some of images become more artistic.

Well, this is how the layer work

Create a New Document (CTRL + N). Select A4 for the document size.

click the images for the actual size

Well, you can see now the Doodle2 layer is under Doodle1. Just drag the layer that you want and arrange it. Also the position of the object changed.
It's really useful part of Photoshop, to make or edit the object without giving affect to another layer and arrange them become nice portrait.

Okay folks, later I will update with another basic tool. Bye for now!

E-Wallpaper - Indonesian Traditional Dance Festival (Selection Tool)

Alright Folks, the first tool that I'm gonna show is Selection Tool (Magnetic Selection Tool). I'd love and often to use this tool to select some objects and makes me easy to modify them. This is a really basic tool to use Photoshop, also can combine with another tool to make it more functional. In this case I will combine with Pen Tool.

Okay, my E-Wallpaper is about Indonesian Traditional Dance Festival. So, the first step is Select the Jaipong Dancer from Indonesia to become one of the object.

Ctrl + N / File > New. to open new document.

This is the document setting for this Wallpaper.

Here the picture that I took from http://ndharma.deviantart.com/gallery/.

There are 3 kind of selection tool that can be used, I prefer to use Magnetic Selection Tool in this case because the background is just not complicated at all.

Follow the outline of the object until it surrounded whole. It will produce the dots and become a point of the line, if the dot ain't suppose at the place press Backspace Key to delete the previous dot.

After all the dots already connected. They will be become dash-line and surrounded the object. It means the object has been selected.

Now, I'm gonna un-select the area under the dancer's armpit. We need to use Pen Tool as un-select tool.

Follow the outline of the area like using Magnetic Selection Tool. But, in this time we need to select manually. It doesn't stick to the outline. So, try to produce the dots often.

Right Click > Make Selection

Make Selection Window will be appeared. Input 0 in Feather Radius. It means the selection tolerance value is 0. So, the selection will be really strict based on the selection that I've just made.

Select Subtract from Selection. Means it will subtracts from the selection that I've made with Magnetic Selection Tool before. Press OK.

See, now I've selected the entire body of Jaipong Dancer already.

Then it can be modified, change the color correction, hue, saturation, vibrance, level, curve, etc. without giving affect to the background.

It also can be moved. We need Move Tool (V) to move the object. It can be moved to everywhere (of course just in the photoshop area la :P) even to another canvas. Just with drag the object.

Okay, at least I've given the really basic about Selection Tool, it is really important tool to start using Photoshop. Later I will explain more.

Next post is will be about Layer. Keep update to my blog folks. Well, bye for now!

Thanks.

Intro

Hello Folks, this is my Computer Graphic 2 Blog. I made this for my Computer Graphic subject in MMU Cyberjaya that wants all student to make their own blog and post the exercises. It makes us easy to doing education nowadays. Thanks to Madam Lydia to uses this method for us.

This blog is about Adobe Photoshop, from the basic one until pretty expert technique. I will provide the step by step tutorial and also add some screenshots. Hope it makes you easy to follow the steps.
After this, I am going to post the first exercise (Selection Tool) soon.

The first assignment is make an E-Wallpaper for any festival. The whole progress must put on this blog. Due to PPI (Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia) just have done the Indonesian Exhibition Event. I am gonna remake this event for next year named Indonesian Traditional Dance Festival. I prefer use this name because actually this yearly event is dominated with Dance Performance and some of Classical Drama. Here are some photos that taken during that time.

images courtesy of PPI Cyberjaya Malaysia

FYI, this event happened on Sunday, 18th April 2010 at MMU Grand Hall. It performed Saman Dance by 80 Indonesian Students. Seriously, that was awesome. During that time, I have to take the documentation requested by PPI Cyberjaya, but, when they were performing Saman Dance, my eyes keep starring to them and I forgot to take the pictures. I don't have any words to describe the awesomeness. Indeed, I really want to see that again. Hope next year the event will be has more great performance.

And also this is the sketch that I've made. I'm gonna make an E-Wallpaper with this format. It really helps me to give more ideas.

Feel free to comment and critic under my post. It will help me to improve this blog.

Okay Folks, bye for now.
